Slovakia Salt Stamp
Miniature sheet of six stamps depicting the salt plant
in Presov issued on June 11, 2021.

The salt plant in Presov is one of Slovakia's most important cultural and technical monuments. Some of the technology used for pumping and cooking salt from brine dates back to the 17th century. The stamp itself and the maximum card depict the impressive bolted wooden truss structure of the salt warehouse, first constructed in 1825, which burned down in 1986. The cachet on the first day cover below depicts the mechanism powered by four pairs of horses that was used to draw brine up the mine shaft to the surface for evaporation and extraction of the salt.
