Malta Salt Stamp
The salt pans at Qbajjar, Gozo are depicted on the "Scenic
Views" series of Maltan stamps issued on September 16, 2009.

On the north coast of the Maltese island of Gozo, just past Qbajjar Bay west of Marsalforn, a chequerboard of rock-cut saltpans protrudes into the sea. These 350-year-old salt pans are part of the centuries-old practice of making sea-salt that has been passed down for many generations in some families. During the summer months the crystals of salt are scraped up and the salt is processed and stored in caves in the rocks.
