Launched in 1921, S.S. Comayagua was a 1,536 tonnes refrigerated freighter belonging to the Cuyamel Fruit Company until 1929 when the company was acquired by the United Fruit Company in a merger. It flew under the Honduran flag until 1935 when it was transferred to American registry. In 1942 it was torpedoed and sunk in Caribbean off Cayman Island. In 1946 a namesake refrigerated ship was launched which remained in service until 1975.
