R.M.S. Connector
Top of registration record for Connector showing manuscript name change from Canadian Sapper. Built in 1920 as the Canadian Sapper by Nova Scotia Steel & Coal Co., New Glasgow, N.S., this 1,763 GRT ship was transfered to the management of Canadian National Steamships Ltd. and, in 1929, renamed Connector for use as a West Indies feeder ship running between Jamaica and British Honduras. In 1946 she was sold to Ming Sung Industrial Co., Shanghai and renamed Hwang Hai. In 1950 Cia Transporte Oriental of Panama purchased the ship and named it La Carmela. Ownership passed to Trans Ocean Corp. of Panama in 1953 and in 1958 the ship was deleted from Lloyds Register.
Philatelic cover to Ship Cover collector and dealer C. Edward Ceder in Tacoma, Washington franked with a Jamaican 1 penny George VI coronation cover of 1937 cancelled with with a Belize straightline "PAQUEBOT" handstamp (Hoskins Type 2548). The cover has a two-line "MAILED AT SEA. / R.M.S. CONNECTOR." handstamp and a Belize, British Honduras C.D.S. dated 21 March 1938.
